What is a picture frame? It is a protective and decorative edging around a picture such as a painting or photograph. It is a way of displaying your work neatly and it compliments your surroundings and aesthetically integrates with it.
There are various forms of picture framing. The medium of your picture will determine what framing choice would be best for it. For example,if you have an oil or acrylic painting, it would not be viable to place glass over it as it would defeat the purpose of textures created by the paint.
We have picture framing options for matte paper prints, glossy prints, canvas prints, oil and acrylic artworks.
Other custom picture framing options we have available are memorabilia framing of sporting achievements such as medals, jerseys, shoes etc.
The example below explains what type of medium can be framed.
- A matte paper print can be pasted down onto a board with clear or non reflective glass, this does not require a mount board as seen in the second image as the matte print will not stick to the glass.
- A glossy paper print can be pasted down onto board but it will require a mount board as over time, the glossy print will stick to the clear glass and ruin your image in the future.
- A canvas print is a bit different as this is stretched over a laminated pine frame, stretched and stapled together at the back. A canvas print can also be framed in the traditional way as it can also be pasted down onto a board and framed in any style of frame. Glass can be added but it depends on what type of aesthetic you are wanting to achieve.
